Stereotypes: Being Yourself vs "Being Normal"

Stereotypes control the world, if we really sit down and look at how people view themselves, it is greatly influenced by the media who show us what's "good". To be perfect, you have be 5-8, blond and have blue eyes. Since when does looking like someone make you perfect? Perfection is achieved by you being the best you can be, and no one should tell you other wise. Another issue is people telling you that you are less a person because of the way you act. What way is the "correct" way to act? to be "normal"? Does normal mean acting like how everyone acts? and how does everyone act in he first place?

"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind" (Dr. Seuss). This quote should make us sit down and think. This quote expresses the idea to be yourself and to not care what others might think. It also expresses the idea to think freely and to say what you believe because the people you care for the most won't attack you for what you say or do. People should apply this quote to their lives more often.

Bullying is what happens when people follow their way to perfection. Bullies bully because they want to know they have power over others. A bully should be stood up to because no matter what the bully does it doesn't matter. "Some very famous people have been bullied including: Bill Gates, Tom Cruise, Mel Gibson, David Beckham, Sir Albert Einstein and Daryl Hannah all report being bullied." If people wouldn't have ignored what the bully said, then who knows where we might be today. People should embrace their individuality, be who they want to be and not feel scared to be who they want to be. These bullies need to be stopped because we are all humans and should all be treated like equals.

In conclusion, being yourself is not a bad thing. "People should stop caring about their flaws because everyone has flaws"- Meghan Dickson. Just remember no one can ever be better at being you then you can.

Why the Rainbow's?

In this post I will talk about rainbows as stated in the title, but I will go much deeper than just the science. Is a rainbow just a rainbow or is there something more than just the pretty colors? Many people believe the QLGBT community must know the meaning to why those colors are so special, or why did the rainbow become their flag? There are also many religions that tell us why rainbows even exist. Are there anymore symbols that the QLGBT community might be able to use if the QLGBT community changes their flag? I will end my post by explaining the history of the QLGBT flag.

Did anyone wonder why the QLGBT community decide to put a rainbow as their universal flag? If you think its because gay people can't choose just one color and they just love them all, you're wrong. QLGBT people choose the rainbow so that each color would represent a different thing. The QLGBT community wasn't the first group of people to chose colors to mean something, country's like Colombia and Italy have meanings behind why they chose those colors for their flags.

The colors might mean many different things
to different people but this it the most widely know version.

People are against the use of the rainbow as the QLGBT flag because of the innocent kids who draw rainbows. Even in the QLGBT community there are some people who believe that the flag should be changed. They believe the change could be for the better so that they can be more accepted because having their kids drawing their flag doesn't help them.

Scientifically, a rainbow is the reflection of the light when it hits water at different angles. Another commonly known way to describe a rainbow is a promise from God not to flood the Earth after the great flood. If God gave it to us then good things should come from it, than why do people believe a rainbow can only have the connection to the QLGBT community?

There are other signs many believe that can take the place of the rainbow like the pink triangle. The origin of the triangle was during the Holocaust. The triangle was used in many colors to identify the country the prisoners were from. Since the 1970's the pink triangle came to be known as the symbol to represent gay Jew's that died during the Holocaust.

The original flag was of 8 colors, but it then got smaller. Glibert Baker was the original artist who designed the flag in 1978. Baker was a good friend to Harvey Mike, who was widely known as "the most famous and significant openly LGBT official ever elected in the United States".  Each color, like I said above, was supposed to mean something, but when he wanted to mass produce the flag they didn't have pink nor turquoise, so the 6 colored flag took hold of the QLGBT community.

In conclusion, a rainbow is good thing, no matter how you look at it. A rainbow means life and hope to many people around the world. No one has ownership of the rainbow, so make it your own motivation. "I like pushing boundaries" and that's what we should all do to broaden our views of the world and to make our lives unique.

What is this Blog About?

First of all hello human's and other beings that might be able to understand the complex language. I'm Sebastian and I decided to create this blog to express my opinion about women, queer, and other discrimination's that our world has. No one is perfect and I perfectly understand that but we do not need people hating one another or themselves because of what other people believe. Be yourself and love others it just makes the world a better place. So why choose to hate when loving is better for all of us?

I'm very passionate about this topic because no one should be treated like they are second best because of anything they can't control. Queer is the word that I like to use the best because it not only groups gays and lesbians; it also classifies pan-sexual, bisexual, asexual, trans. and any other sexuality's that are not "normal". A Queer, Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans.(QLGBT) is also another way of saying queer in a more direct way. No one can change their sexual orientation, the person might act like they are a certain type of sexuality but it is wired in their brain what sexuality they have to be. Women are another group of people that have been treated second best that still happens today. They have fought for everything and now some women are better than men; this has nothing to the with the fact that women are better but still they have achieved a lot over the past 100 years of fighting for equality in the U.S.A. There are other groups but I will list them on a future post and go more in depth into what is the history of each discrimination.
