Stereotypes: Being Yourself vs "Being Normal"

Stereotypes control the world, if we really sit down and look at how people view themselves, it is greatly influenced by the media who show us what's "good". To be perfect, you have be 5-8, blond and have blue eyes. Since when does looking like someone make you perfect? Perfection is achieved by you being the best you can be, and no one should tell you other wise. Another issue is people telling you that you are less a person because of the way you act. What way is the "correct" way to act? to be "normal"? Does normal mean acting like how everyone acts? and how does everyone act in he first place?

"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind" (Dr. Seuss). This quote should make us sit down and think. This quote expresses the idea to be yourself and to not care what others might think. It also expresses the idea to think freely and to say what you believe because the people you care for the most won't attack you for what you say or do. People should apply this quote to their lives more often.

Bullying is what happens when people follow their way to perfection. Bullies bully because they want to know they have power over others. A bully should be stood up to because no matter what the bully does it doesn't matter. "Some very famous people have been bullied including: Bill Gates, Tom Cruise, Mel Gibson, David Beckham, Sir Albert Einstein and Daryl Hannah all report being bullied." If people wouldn't have ignored what the bully said, then who knows where we might be today. People should embrace their individuality, be who they want to be and not feel scared to be who they want to be. These bullies need to be stopped because we are all humans and should all be treated like equals.

In conclusion, being yourself is not a bad thing. "People should stop caring about their flaws because everyone has flaws"- Meghan Dickson. Just remember no one can ever be better at being you then you can.
